About the Artist
"Frank Rosen is a Brooklynite and clinical psychologist. He became a seasonal Cornwall visitor eight years ago after meeting his wife Emily Waters, a Corwall regular as well as a fine arts professor and artist. From the time they first moved in together, their basement steadily gave way to a woodshop as his avid pursuit of furniture design and construction rapidly evolved. Over the last two years he has begun to make wood sculpture as well as acrylic paintings on bark. He employs either found or recycled lumber whenever possible, while lamps are built from commercial components.

Frank’s use of color and design was initially inspired by De Stijl and modernist furniture, in particular the work of the architect and furniture maker Gerrit Rietveld (1888-1964). But his work adds gonzo elements meant to surprise and entertain, more in the spirit of Dada or Memphis than anything seen in traditional furniture making.  Lastly, textural and free flowing elements sometimes pull his work in a more natural direction. Form is never meant to subsume function and even his most geometric furniture pieces are nonetheless designed to be used and enjoyed."

With our new expanded space of the Souterrain Gallery we are aiming to ad a more public exhibit space , meeting place & venue for a variety of concepts to Cornwall in particular West Cornwall's town center that with the Covered Bridge and bucolic setting is a natural attraction for visitors from near and far.
The Space is to convey what a segment of Cornwall is all about, Art and Art on all levels.
We hope and wish to exhibit works by our vast variety of area artists to share their love and pride of inhabiting this part of the world.
